Twitter has locked the account for China’s Embassy to the U.S. over an offending tweet posted on Jan. 7th that read: “study shows that in the process of eradicating extremism, the minds of Uygur women in Xinjiang were emancipated and gender equality and reproductive health were promoted, making them no longer baby-making machines. They are more confident and independent.” The study linked to an article written in China Daily. Twitter is blocked in China but Chinese diplomats and embassies frequently take to the platform to defend China in what has been termed “wolf diplomacy”.
